Natural Habitat: Riparian habitat, moist woods on mountain slopes.

Foliage: Green leaves that turn yellow and drop in the fall.

Light Requirements: Full sun to part sun

Elevation Range: 2,000 - 6,500 ft.

Cold Hardiness: Zone 3 - 9

Wind Tolerance: Low

Soil Preference: Grows in a variety of soil from moist silts, gravels, and sands to rich humus.
