Natural Habitat: Moist to dry forests from the valley to montane habitat of western MT.

Foliage: Evergreen

Light Requirements: Partial shade.

Elevation Range: 3,000 - 6,000 ft.

Cold Hardiness: Zones 4 - 7.

Wind Tolerance: High.

Soil Preference: Well-drained soils, sandy or loamy, wet sites, slightly acid to neutral. Do not plant in clay.

Alkali/ Saline Soil Tolerance: Poor.

Life Span: 80+ years.

Minimum Annual Precipitation: 14 in.

Drought Tolerance: Low.

Windbreak Spacing: 8 - 12 ft.

Potential Pests/ Disease: Produced from white pine blister rust resistant seed.
